Nadav Cohen was born in Tivon in 1983. Graduate of the music trends in Re'ut and Wizo schools of arts in Haifa. Nadav Graduated first degree both in bassoon and composition at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance (JAMD). Today he studies bassoon with Prof. Ole Kristian Dahl in Cologne, in addition to baroque bassoon studies at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague with Mrs. Donna Agrell.
Nadav studied composition with Dr. Eitan Steinberg and Prof. Yin'am Leef. His compositions were performed and recorded for the radio. Nadav received a prize in the 2007 Hanna Yidor-Avni composition competition of the JAMD for his Trio for Bassoon, violoncello and piano (2004). This piece was performed by Meitar ensemble in the Kfar Blum chamber music festival at the summer of 2007. His piece for oboe solo, "Double line", was commissioned by Yigal Kaminka for the 2009 Aviv competition and awarded the Israeli piece performance prize in January 2009. Meitar ensemble premiered his piece for soprano & ensemble, "In a Cold Rainy City" at Dec. 2009 during a composition masterclass with Fabián Panisello (Spain).
Nadav served as a member of the "Outstanding Musicians Program" in the IDF. During 2001-2009 he has been awarded scholarships by the AICF for bassoon, chamber music and composition studies. Awarded the "head of JAMD" prize in 2006. In 2008-2009 participated at the JAMD "Chais" excellence program.
Since 2006 he is a Member of Meitar ensemble. A founding member of Tel-Aviv woodwind quintet since 2009.
