Ze'ev Bitkin

ZE'EV BITKIN was born in 1947, in the former USSR.
In 1971 he graduated from the Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow. From 1971-1992 he lived and taught in Kishinev (Moldova), and from 1993 – in Hebron (Israel).
The roots of Mr. Bitkin's creativity go back to jewish folk tunes, traditional synagogue music (hazzanut), polyphony of old Masters, German Romanticism, serial composition and jazz.
His works are post avant garde and polystylistic.
In 1982-1987 Ze'ev Bitkin gathered more than 300 folk songs sung by Jews of Moldova.
Ze'ev Bitkin passed away in November 2019.
