Matanel Vakhtang

Matanel Vakhtang Composer and bass singer Matanel Vakhtang was born in Nikolaev (Ukraine) in 1964. Started his musical education at Batumi (Georgia) Paliashvili Music College studying the theory of music. Took lessons in composition from Dr. Josef Bardanashvili and vocal lessons from Prof. Murman Makharadze. The turning point in his life was in 1983 when he was invited to work at Tbilisi, Paliashvili Opera House as a choir singer by the chief choir conductor of Tbilisi Opera Janis Dumins (Latvia). Matanel Vakhtang took lessons in composition from Ruven Kazhiloti(1983). Continued his studies of composition in Music Academy ,Tbilisi (former Saradjishvili State Conservatory) in the class of Prof. Otar Taktakishvili.

Settled in Israel in 2001. Participated in avangard Opera “Aino Tsuzumi” (2005) of Ari Ben Shabtai. Worked as a bass singer in New Israeli Opera and Kameri theater.

Among the works written in Israel : Orchestral Psalm 83 for mixed choir, symphony orchestra and cantor (2007), a set of arrangements for cantorial choir music and orchestrations(Concert in park Ramat Gan,2008), Dialog for Viola and Bass Profundo (2008), romances, piano pieces etc.
